As with all serious gas measurement sensors the Alcologic and LifeLoc FC Series must be re-calibrated from time to time : Approx every 6 - 12 months or 300 - 400 uses depending on usage

Some cheaper units purport not to require calibration. It is impossible to maintain the accuracy of a breathalyser without service, these units are mere novelty devices often sold by electronics importers who know little or nothing about toxicology.
Some units also require a replaceable sensor. Replacing the sensor is just 50% of the service – the units hardware and software device be checked to make sure it is working properly. Users should be wary of devices that have no back-up servicing from manufacturers.
